If you have seen the news lately, you know that an incident is being investigated in which four marines were videoed when behaving in an uncivilized manner. Social media discourse I've read ranges from those who want them tarred and feathered through those who have been to war and, while not condoning the behavior, understand that war does things to the human soul that those not in war cannot understand. Dr. Angie Panos is a psychologist and a board certified expert in traumatic stress with 25 years of experience and the mother of a daughter who is currently serving in the military. In this article she offer an example of a soldier, then describes symptoms associated with mild traumatic brain injury; and finally offers practical guidance, which includes an excellent list of resources on Traumatic Brain Injury and PTSD.

The Institute strives to improve quality of life through research, education and programs that focus on active music participation.
